Fesi can remove eligible older reactions automatically, which is a different decision from clearing temporary export files. A retention setting decides which original recordings may be removed as they age. Review what you want to preserve before choosing it.

The available age choices are Off, 30 days, 60 days and 90 days. On iOS, look for Delete Old Reactions in Settings; wording can differ on Android.

Start with the recordings you want to retain

Review the Library before enabling a shorter retention period. Mark important clips as Favorites and make a verified independent copy of anything irreplaceable. Automatic cleanup excludes favorite reactions in the current iOS and Android implementations.

This protection applies to that cleanup operation. It is not a backup and does not make a favorite immune to an explicit delete, losing the phone or removing app data. See the portable archive guide for creating and checking an independent collection copy.

Choose a policy you can explain later

Off disables age-based cleanup; it does not create unlimited storage. Thirty days is a shorter retention window than sixty or ninety. The useful choice depends on how often you review your recordings and when you normally decide which moments matter.

Do not choose a short period merely because your current Library is small. Consider a future month when you might not have time to review every session. If you want to make each deletion decision yourself, keep automatic cleanup Off and manage unwanted recordings deliberately.

Understand that age belongs to the recording collection

Cleanup uses the age of sessions to select older content, rather than treating the last time you watched a clip as a fresh capture. The platform implementations use session timestamps, with iOS checking the session start and Android selecting completed sessions by its end cutoff.

Do not assume that reopening or renaming a video renews its retention period. If an older reaction matters, use Favorites and verify a backup instead of relying on a name change.

Do not expect a separate midnight reminder

The policy is applied through the app’s cleanup workflow. Android checks it at initialization and when the policy changes. It is not a promise that every eligible file disappears at an exact wall-clock instant, or that you will receive a reminder before each age-based removal.

Read the setting before changing it, especially when switching from Off to a shorter window with an existing Library. A choice can affect older material already present, not only recordings you create afterward.

Keep temporary cleanup separate

Removing temporary exports clears working copies made for sharing. Age-based cleanup concerns eligible reactions in the Library. Choose the action that matches your goal rather than treating every storage option as equivalent.

The temporary-export guide explains that distinction. A practical routine is to review new sessions, favorite meaningful reactions, verify archives and then choose a retention policy that fits that review habit. Revisit the choice if your recording frequency changes.
