A favorite marker makes a reaction easier to find. A backup gives you another copy if the original is lost. Fesi’s portable archive feature is designed to keep recordings and their Library context together in a file you choose where to store.

Before clearing storage or changing phones, make a backup and check it. Simply starting an export is not the same as confirming that you have a usable copy.

What a Fesi archive contains

A portable .fesiarchive file can contain sessions and their original reaction media, together with information such as session names, clip dates, durations and favorite state. This is different from exporting one finished video for a social post: the archive is intended for restoring recordings into Fesi.

Do not assume the archive is a complete image of every app setting, temporary preview or unfinished edit. The archive workflow preserves the supported session and clip information included in that export.

Create the archive from Settings

  1. Review your Library and confirm that the recordings you need are present and playable.
  2. Open Settings and find the archive export option. On iPhone, it is labeled Export Fesi Archive; labels can vary by platform.
  3. Choose a destination through your device’s file or sharing interface.
  4. Let the operation complete before moving, renaming or copying the resulting file.
  5. Check the destination and confirm that the archive exists.

Keep enough free space for the output and any copy made by the destination service. An archive containing several videos can be much larger than a single clip. Fesi does not promise a fixed backup size or completion time.

Verify a backup before deleting originals

The most useful check is a restore test using Fesi’s import option on a supported installation. After import, look for the expected sessions, play representative clips, listen to their audio and check important dates or favorites.

Importing a backup can add recordings to the Library. It is not a preview-only operation. Repeatedly importing the same file can create additional copies because an import does not act as account-based synchronization.

If an import reports a damaged or unsupported file, preserve the original archive while you investigate. Do not delete your working Library merely because an export produced a filename.

Choose a private storage destination

Archive files can contain faces, voices and personal session details. Treat them with the same care as the recordings themselves. Fesi’s Privacy Lock does not automatically encrypt or password-protect a portable archive outside the app.

If you choose a cloud drive or another app as the destination, that service handles the exported file under its own settings and policies. A portable export does not create a Fesi cloud account or automatic backup service.

Archive or share?

Use a playable video export when someone needs to watch a selected moment. Use a Fesi archive when you need to preserve supported recordings and their Library context for import into Fesi. Neither replaces checking the result.

A practical routine is to keep one working Library and a verified independent archive of anything irreplaceable. Review old archives before deleting them so you do not accidentally remove your only remaining copy.
