Our Privacy Manifesto

At Ruth Technologies, LLC ("we", "us", or "our"), we fundamentally reject the trend of turning your living room into training data or advertising fodder. When you watch movies, games, or videos with your family, your reactions, laughter, conversations, and camera feed should never leave your physical device.

Fesi processes camera frames and microphone samples on your device. We do not have servers receiving your video streams, we do not require account creation, and we do not collect or monetize your face data. Reaction clips that you choose to record remain in the app's local storage until you delete them or an enabled cleanup setting removes them.

1. Information We Do Not Collect

Reaction detection and media processing happen on-device. Advertising, billing and hosting services have separate data practices described below. For your recordings:

• No User Accounts: You do not need to register, log in, or provide an email, phone number, or social media profile to use Fesi.
• No Video or Audio Transmission: Camera frames and microphone audio streams are processed in local volatile RAM and are never uploaded, streamed, or relayed to external servers.
• Advertising services: Free features may display Google AdMob ads, including rewarded ads. Google’s SDK and consent tools may process device, network, advertising and interaction data according to your consent choices and applicable platform settings. Your reaction recordings and face measurements are not supplied to AdMob by Fesi. See Google’s advertising privacy information.
• No AI Training On Your Content: Your facial expressions, audio reactions, and saved clips are never harvested or used to train public or private machine learning models.

2. Device Permissions & Local Hardware Use

To detect genuine human reactions in real time, Fesi requests permission to access specific hardware capabilities on your phone:

• Camera Access: The front camera is accessed while Reaction Mode is active. Apple's on-device Vision framework detects up to two faces and measures face position, size, mouth opening, and movement to determine whether a reaction occurred. Frames remain in a short rolling memory buffer unless a reaction is recorded.
• Microphone Access: The microphone is monitored in real time during active capture sessions to classify acoustic spikes (such as cheers, gasps, laughter, or screams). Audio data is analyzed strictly on-device; if no reaction occurs, the buffer is wiped.
• Photo Library / Storage Access: Used when you choose to export a clip or select a photo or video for a background. Fesi accesses the media you select and does not scan your entire photo library for reaction detection.
• Biometrics (Face ID / Touch ID / Fingerprint): If you enable Privacy Lock, the operating system handles authentication through Apple's LocalAuthentication or Android's BiometricPrompt. Fesi receives only the success or failure result; it does not access or store biometric templates.
• Siri & Voice Assistant (iOS): Enables hands-free activation using voice phrases (such as "Hey Siri, start reaction mode in Fesi"). Speech processing is handled natively by Apple's operating system.

3. Face Data: Use, Sharing, Storage & Retention

Fesi processes camera images that may contain your face and, on the device, derives temporary face landmarks, bounding boxes, mouth-opening, head-position, movement, and reaction scores. These measurements help detect reactions, check that a face is visible, and decide when to record. Fesi does not identify people, build face profiles, or use face data for advertising or model training.

Face measurements and unrecorded camera frames are processed in device memory. They are not sent to our servers, shared with third parties, or saved as a separate face-data database. When a clip is captured, local reaction metadata may retain a composite reaction score and signal labels such as mouth movement or head movement, but not the underlying face landmarks or biometric templates. The rolling frame buffer normally retains up to two seconds of video; at 4K its video buffer is limited to approximately 0.75 seconds or 15 frames. Older frames are overwritten during capture, and remaining in-memory data is released when the app terminates.

When a reaction is captured, the resulting video clip can contain visible faces and audio. Clips, thumbnails, and reaction metadata are stored in the app's local container on your device until you delete them, uninstall the app, or an optional automatic deletion setting removes eligible non-favorite clips. Fesi does not upload them to our servers. You can explicitly export a clip to Photos, share it with an app or service you choose, or export a portable archive; those destinations then handle the copy under their own policies. Your device's own backup settings may also include app data. Deleting a clip in Fesi removes its local media file and metadata; exported or backed-up copies must be managed at their destinations.

Privacy Lock's Face ID option is separate from reaction detection. Apple performs authentication and gives Fesi only a result; Fesi never receives or stores Face ID templates.

4. The Rolling Buffer Lifecycle

To ensure every captured reaction includes the suspenseful buildup, Fesi maintains a circular first-in, first-out (FIFO) buffer in volatile RAM:

• Volatile Memory Before Capture: The rolling video and audio buffers are held in temporary memory while waiting for a reaction. When a reaction is recorded, the relevant frames and audio are written to a local clip.
• Automatic Overwriting: Older frames are released as new ones enter the buffer. The video buffer is normally up to two seconds; at 4K it is limited to approximately 0.75 seconds or 15 frames.
• End of Processing: Temporary in-memory data is released when the app terminates. Unrecorded frames are not kept as permanent clips.

5. Data Storage, Retention & Deletion

All clips captured by Fesi are stored exclusively inside the app's sandboxed local container on your physical device:

• Deleting Clips: When you delete a clip within your Fesi library, it is immediately and permanently unlinked from your physical storage.
• App Uninstallation: If you uninstall Fesi from your device, all unexported reaction clips stored in Fesi's local container are completely removed by the operating system.
• No Cloud Backups By Us: Because we do not run user databases, we cannot restore deleted clips. You can export a portable Fesi archive or share clips to a destination you choose. Your device backup settings may also include app data.

6. In-App Subscriptions & Payment Processing

Optional subscriptions (such as Fesi Pro) are processed directly through Apple StoreKit on iOS or Google Play Billing on Android.

Payment processing, card verification, and recurring billing are managed entirely by Apple Inc. or Google LLC in accordance with their respective privacy policies. Ruth Technologies, LLC never receives, handles, or stores your credit card numbers, billing addresses, or bank details.

7. Children's Privacy (COPPA & GDPR-K)

Fesi does not collect or transmit personal information from any user, including children under 13 years of age (or under 16 in certain jurisdictions). Because all detection and storage are strictly local to the user's physical device, Fesi complies inherently with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR-K), and applicable international child safety standards.

8. Regional Privacy Rights (CCPA, CPRA, GDPR, CalOPPA)

We fully uphold data privacy rights under California law (CCPA/CPRA), European data protection law (GDPR), and other regional privacy statutes:

• No Sale or Sharing of Data: We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data, nor do we share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
• Right to Know & Delete: Because Fesi does not collect or retain personal information or account profiles on any remote server, there is no centralized personal record to retrieve, transfer, or delete. You retain 100% control over your data directly on your device.

Website visits and discovery measurement

The website host processes requests to serve public pages and downloads. Search Console reports aggregate search performance. The website does not currently install a visitor analytics SDK or store personal reaction content. If referral logs are reviewed, a missing referrer is not treated as proof of an AI referral. Third-party sites opened through links apply their own privacy policies.
